She was warm, leaning into him as he quietly read aloud the ending of the book. They had spent almost all of the winter break like this; her lying in his arms as he read the Harry Potter series aloud.
There was a sniff, and Danny looked down to see C’s eyes were red. “Cass…”
"Don’t you dare," she sniffed again, wiping her eyes.
"Are you crying?"
"Deathly Hallows always makes me cry," she muttered. Danny smiled at her and dropped a kiss to the top of her head.
"And here I was holding back tears when Dobby died cause I thought you’d make fun of me." Danny put the book down and held her close, his hands running up and down her arms.
"I would have, but I was crying then too…" she said, leaning into him. "Can we read it again?"
"The whole series?"
"No just the last one, it’s my favorite," She leaned into him, "Please?" She kissed his cheek.
"Yeah, okay," he smiled. He kissed her quickly before flipping over the book and opening to the first page. "The two men appeared out of nowhere, a few yards apart in the narrow, moonlit lane…"
